Description

Mean of grouped data objects.

Usage

mean(x, …)

Arguments

x

an object of class "grouped.data".

…

further arguments passed to or from other methods.

Value

A named vector of means.

Details

The mean of grouped data with group boundaries \(c_1, \dots, c_r\) and group frequencies \(n_1, \dots, n_r\) is $$\sum_{j = 1}^r \frac{c_{j - 1} + c_j}{2}\, n_j.$$
