<p>These functions take strings as input and turn them into symbols.
Contrarily to <code>as.name()</code>, they convert the strings to the native
encoding beforehand. This is necessary because symbols remove
silently the encoding mark of strings (see <code><a rd-options="=set_str_encoding" href="/link/set_str_encoding()?package=rlang&version=0.1.1&to=%3Dset_str_encoding" data-mini-rdoc="=set_str_encoding::set_str_encoding()">set_str_encoding()</a></code>).</p>
