A <code><a rd-options="base" href="/link/character?package=R.utils&version=2.5.0&to=base" data-mini-rdoc="base::character">character</a></code> string specifying the version to test for.
    If <code><a rd-options="base" href="/link/NULL?package=R.utils&version=2.5.0&to=base" data-mini-rdoc="base::NULL">NULL</a></code>, any version is tested for.

  Checks if a package is loaded or not.
  Note that, contrary to <code><a rd-options="base:library" href="/link/require?package=R.utils&version=2.5.0&to=base%3Alibrary" data-mini-rdoc="base:library::require">require</a>()</code>,
  this function does not load the package if not loaded.
