<code>CompressedInputStream</code> and <code>CompressedOutputStream</code>
allow you to apply a compression <a rd-options="" href="/link/Codec?package=arrow&version=0.16.0.2" data-mini-rdoc="arrow::Codec">Codec</a> to an
input or output stream.

'Apache' 'Arrow' <https://arrow.apache.org/> is a cross-language
development platform for in-memory data. It specifies a standardized
language-independent columnar memory format for flat and hierarchical data,
organized for efficient analytic operations on modern hardware. This
package provides an interface to the 'Arrow C++' library.

compression function

The <code>CompressedInputStream$create()</code> and <code>CompressedOutputStream$create()</code>
factory methods instantiate the object and take the following arguments:<ul>
<li><code>stream</code> An <a rd-options="" href="/link/InputStream?package=arrow&version=0.16.0.2" data-mini-rdoc="arrow::InputStream">InputStream</a> or <a rd-options="" href="/link/OutputStream?package=arrow&version=0.16.0.2" data-mini-rdoc="arrow::OutputStream">OutputStream</a>, respectively</li>
<li><code>codec</code> A <code>Codec</code>, either a <a rd-options="" href="/link/Codec?package=arrow&version=0.16.0.2" data-mini-rdoc="arrow::Codec">Codec</a> instance or a string</li>
<li><code>compression_level</code> compression level for when the <code>codec</code> argument is given as a string</li>
