A matrix the provides the basis for a subspace

A vector with the same number of rows as mat, or a matrix
  with the same number of rows as mat

vecs

A vector with the same number of rows as mat

<code>cosangle1</code> returns the cosine of the
angle between a vector vecs  and the subspace spanned
by the columns of the matrix mat.  For cosangle, vecs can be a matrix, in
which case cosangle1 is called for each column in vecs.

regression

Functions, methods, and datasets for fitting dimension
 reduction regression, including pHd and inverse regression methods
 SIR and SAVE.  These methods are described, for example, in
 R. D. Cook (1998), Regression Graphics, Wiley, New York.  Also included is
 code for computing permutation tests of dimension.  Adding additional
 methods of estimating dimension is straightforward.  One function depends
 on the lqs package.  Minor revision to be compatible with R 2.0.0, and
