<code>ncol</code> returns the number of columns in <code>x@data</code>. I.e. the number
of columns with additional information to each spectrum (e.g. "x", "y",
...) + 1 (for column <code>spc</code> containing the spectra).<code>nrow</code> yields the number of rows in <code>x@data</code>, i.e. the number of
spectra in the <code>hyperSpec</code> object.<code>nwl</code> returns the number of columns in <code>x@data$spc</code>, i.e. the
length of each spectrum.<code>dim</code> returns all three values in a vector.<code>length</code> is a synonym for <code>nrow</code>. It is supplied so that
<code>seq_along (x)</code> returns a sequence to index each spectrum.

methods

Comfortable ways to work with hyperspectral data sets.
I.e. spatially or time-resolved spectra, or spectra with any other kind
of information associated with each of the spectra. The spectra can be data
as obtained in XRF, UV/VIS, Fluorescence, AES, NIR, IR, Raman, NMR, MS,
etc. More generally, any data that is recorded over a discretized variable,
e.g. absorbance = f (wavelength), stored as a vector of absorbance values
for discrete wavelengths is suitable.
