The covariate(s) used in the calculation of the weights of the
 variance function represented by <code>object</code> is (are) replaced by
 <code>value</code>. If <code>object</code> has been initialized, <code>value</code> must
 have the same dimensions as <code>getCovariate(object)</code>.
