sw.beta: Seawater haline contraction coefficient

Description

Compute $\beta$ using McDougall's (1987) algorithm. NOTE: this conflicts with base::beta, so be sure to prefix as sw.beta().

Usage

sw.beta(S, t, p, is.theta=FALSE)

either salinity [PSU] (in which case t and p must be provided) or a ctd object (in which case S, t and p are determined from the object, and must no

is.theta

Set TRUE if t is theta or FALSE if t is in-situ

Value

• Value in 1/psu.

Details

If the first argument is a ctd object, then salinity, temperature and pressure values are extracted from it, and used for the calculation.
