An <code><links4class>eutil</links4class></code> object.

Get the <dquote>retrieval mode</dquote> of an
  <code><links4class>eutil</links4class></code> object It is usually one of
  <code>xml</code> <code>text</code>, or <code>asn.1</code>. It is set to
  <code>NULL</code> if <dquote>retrieval mode</dquote> is not supported
  by an E-Utility.

reutils provides support for interacting with NCBI databases such
    as PubMed, Genbank, or GEO via the Entrez Programming Utilities (EUtils).
    The nine EUtils provide a programmatical interface to the NCBI Entrez query
    and database system for searching and retrieving biological data.
