Students learning both econometrics and R may find the introduction
to both challenging. The wooldridge data package aims to lighten the task by efficiently
loading any data set found in the text with a single command. Data sets have been
compressed to a fraction of their original size. Documentation files contain page numbers,
the original source, time of publication, and notes from the author suggesting avenues for
further analysis and research. If one needs an introduction to R model syntax, a
vignette contains solutions to examples from chapters of the text.
Data sets are from the 7th edition (Wooldridge 2020, ISBN-13: 978-1-337-55886-0),
and are backwards compatible with all previous versions of the text.

A data.frame with 106 observations on 12 variables:<ul>
<li>district: district number</li>
<li>year: 72 or 78</li>
<li>crime: crimes per 1000 people</li>
<li>clrprc1: clear-up perc, prior year</li>
<li>clrprc2: clear-up perc, two-years prior</li>
<li>d78: =1 if year = 78</li>
<li>avgclr: (clrprc1 + clrprc2)/2</li>
<li>lcrime: log(crime)</li>
<li>clcrime: change in lcrime</li>
<li>cavgclr: change in avgclr</li>
<li>cclrprc1: change in clrprc1</li>
<li>cclrprc2: change in clrprc2</li>
</ul>

Format

These data are for the years 1972 and 1978 for 53 police districts in Norway. Much larger data sets for more years can be obtained for the United States, although a measure of the &lt;U+201C&gt;clear-up&lt;U+201D&gt; rate is needed.
